Four versions of my characters in similar poses for comparison. Here, from left-to-right: Princess Verachantesse, Endeara Devika, Lilithe Classica, and Zandeya Stormer.
I'm sure if you're watching my portfolio, you've noticed a certain similarity to the poses. I have something like 120 poses that I use to "stress test" my rigs. Hands in fists, or open, or making certain gestures. Certain facial expressions. Especially arms in positions that are typically quite hard to make shoulder deforms look correct. Hips, elbows, and knees in various states of bent. Cross-legged, fully bent at the waist, or splits (these tend to be more lewd, so don't make the cut for ArtStation, but if you go to my personal website at faemalia.com, you'll see those poses represented).
I use these positions to be sure when I'm rigging that the rig doesn't fail in some major way. I want my characters to have the full range of motion of a typical human. This does mean I don't try contortionist poses. I'm not interested in the full range of human motion, just typical human range.
The purpose of my art is not to be aesthetically-pleasing (though sometimes it is). It is more to prove to myself and you that the rigs I'm making do the job. In any given render, the point is her shoulders and hips, her elbows and knees. How do they compare to typical 3D women?
Once I am done rigging... who knows when that will be! 2022? 2023? 2024? Anyway... once that time comes, I'll start making "real art."
But for now, this is what you get.
